Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 at the Olympic contest. Comaneci was first discovered by Bela Karolyi who was later her Romanian gymnastics coach when she was only six years old. First competing in the national junior championships in Romania in 1969 she placed 13th. And in 1970, the Romanian gymnast won. At her first international event in an Olympic-style junior preolympic competition that was open to countries of the communist bloc, she won 3 gold medals. In 1973 and 1975, she was crowned all-around Junior Champion. At her first competitive event at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva from Russia took home five gold medals as well with one silver. The year was 1976 when she took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympic Games and became the first woman in history to dismount the parallel bars using a double backward salto. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. When she was in her teens she started appearing on touring shows like Ice Capades as a skater along with her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol ventured into the entertainment business as a teenager. She started her career performing figure skating with Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment shows Ice Capades. They featured staged ice skating performance.
