One child was strapped onto my back as one crawled inside the playpen. I worked 12 hour days for months sanding and stripping wallpaper and with just one child. Ha! Everything was starting to fall into place, however we were nowhere near done. The project would require a lot of money effort as well as my favourite brands of furniture to furnish this home. To keep the budget in check, I began going to estate sales with my three boys searching for jewels in the rough. The schedule we had for the week that consisted of spending Thursday through Saturday walking around estate sales and garage sales purchasing new and old items. The rest of the week painting and sanding on the driveway. My passion for furniture restoration started with an appearance similar to this. When our house was decorated, I couldn't give up! On the streets I set up a little space, and also sold objects. In the end, I had so many pieces I didn't have a clue what to do with them and I outgrew my space. At home, I started hosting open houses in which more than 1,000 people were able to come in and buy any item they wanted from the first floor in just one weekend. Growing Days was created in the home. The business wasn't just thriving but I was growing our family of four. It was like I was able to find the perfect equilibrium between motherhood and launching my business. Growing Days just fit. Nora came into our lives in 2013 and became our fourth baby. While I was pleased with the direction my business was taking, I realized that I needed to take an occasional break. I took some time away from furniture that was vintage to enjoy the time I needed with my family. The time was right. After a few months when the phones began to ring. They asked for my help in interior decoration and home renovations. They were mostly people who came to my open house for furniture. Then I slowly took on new clients according to my own pace. Soon I had multiple clients, and had as a home improvement business. You would probably have laughed at me had I had told you that this would become the basis of an DIY Network tv series. In fact, I laugh slightly when I recall the episode.
