Laura Linney has been hailed as one of the most well-known actors. She is known for playing strong characters but equally at risk. Born to a famous playwright father, but raised by a single mother who worked in the field of nursing, she was drawn to theatre when spending summers with her father then pursuing acting studies, first at Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career soon after completing her degree, and then made her debut on television the following year. She has appeared on numerous stages, films and television productions since then. She has won many awards throughout her career. These include the four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. While she has received numerous awards throughout her career, theatre has always been her first passion.
